HearMe is built to be anonymous. There is no sign-up, no login, no name, no email, and no location — ever. When you first open the app, it is assigned a random anonymous identifier. Your prayers are stored under that random ID, and nothing connects it to who you are. 144 ("we", "us") shows no ads, uses no third-party analytics or trackers, and sells nothing about you to anyone.
Prayers you write — a title, the prayer text, a category, whether it is public, and a timestamp — are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, on servers in the United States), under your random anonymous ID. Prayers you mark public appear on the global Prayer Wall for all users, always without any identity attached. Prayers you keep private are readable only by your anonymous ID, enforced by server-side security rules.
Each public prayer also carries counters: how many people tapped Pray, how many candles were lit for it, and whether its author marked it answered. Counters are numbers only — they contain no information about who tapped.
The list of prayers you have prayed for, prayers you have hidden, your prayer streak, your daily-goal progress, your language and theme choices, and your reminder settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
The random ID is created by Firebase Anonymous Authentication. It is not derived from your name, email, phone number, contacts, or location — none of which the app ever asks for. It exists so that your journal can find your own prayers and so the wall can enforce one Pray per prayer. If you delete the app, the ID is permanently orphaned; neither we nor anyone else can connect it to you.
Optional purchases (Light a Candle, supporter gifts, and the HearMe Plus subscription) are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple account. We never see your payment details. A candle purchase increments the public candle count on the prayer you chose; nothing about the buyer is stored with it. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your device's Settings, under your Apple ID.
If you report a prayer, we store the report — the prayer's ID, the reason you chose, and your anonymous ID (to prevent report spam) — so we can review and remove content that breaks the rules. Reports are never visible to other users.
The optional daily prayer reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. It requires your permission, can be turned off in Settings at any time, and involves no server.
HearMe runs on Google Firebase (authentication and database; see Firebase's privacy documentation) and Apple's StoreKit for purchases (see Apple's privacy policy). Analytics and advertising features of these platforms are disabled.
Deleting a prayer in the app deletes it from our servers immediately. Because the app is anonymous, we cannot look up "your account" — but if you need a specific public prayer removed and can identify it (for example by its exact text), email us and we will remove it.
HearMe collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains user-generated content with moderation (profanity filtering, reporting, and removal).
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
